The Witching Hour

Happy Halloween everybody! I always get excited about Halloween, and the chance to get dressed up. This year, I decided to put together a gothic look which had the feel of a costume, but consisted mainly of items I already had, and was consistent with my personal style. My coat is past season Topshop (A/W 2013), but I've seen coats with a similar style online, like the Hell Bunny Courtney coat. The only thing I bought new for my 'costume' was the headband with lace cat ears. Surprisingly it was bought from a supermarket (Sainsbury's own accessories range) and was very affordable. But if you like it and can't locate the same one, River Island has one that looks identical (here). Underneath, I wore dark jeans, and I completed the look with my ever-faithful swan bag (no surprises there I'm sure!). You can click here to see a black clutch bag with a digital swan print, for a similar feel. Finally, I added my owl stud earrings, which I thought would be a fitting choice and in keeping with the Halloween theme (similar at Accessorize).

I wanted to take the pictures for this blog post in a setting which resembled a forest, and I'm really happy with how the images turned out, and the backdrop. I hope you like them too. You can see my past Halloween posts here (20142015).

Did you do anything special to mark Halloween? Do you like this look? Please leave a comment below and let me know! Thank you for dropping by.

Lots of love Saba xx

  1. A really nice location indeed! I love your coat too, I don't care much for being "in" fashion and I love my old favourite pieces that I just re-wear again and again :)

  4. I love the cat ears! Dressing as a cat for Halloween is a classic, I think your ears go really nicely with the coat. It's easier to go about on Halloween dressed subtle like this, being Captain America in a spandex suit in the forest area for me was not so easy, ha ha!

    1. No I expect it wasn't, ha ha! But it was worth it for the end result, as the images were fantastic! I thought a playful cat would be a promising option for me, and it was really fun to don the cat ears! Thanks so much for your lovely comment. I'm glad you like the look. xx

  5. Really love your Halloween look, hun! And can I just say, I think that your hair is absolutely gorgeous & definitely goals!! <3 Really like how you styled the coat with the lovely bag, and the gothic vibes are definietly right up my alley. :) The cat ears are absolutely adorable, also! xoxo I didn't get dressed up this Halloween or do anything interesting in general, I was actually at work for most of it! Always enjoy admiring other people's outfits, though, and yours is absolutely gorgeous! Thank you for sharing. x x x

  13. Saba, thank you for dropping by my blog and leaving an incredibly sweet comment... I was truly touched, it feels good knowing there are so many people who really care about how I am doing.

I love your cute cat ears, they look very sweet with your outfit... and such a great backdrop... my Valentina has gone out as a cat a couple of times, she always looked adorable xox

I am happy to be back writing, I missed it a great deal... but truthfully I missed interacting with the blog world, I was just overwhelmed with that insane election in the US and of course dealing with the depression I seem to come back to this time of the year... xox

    1. Hi Launna! Thanks so much for your super-sweet comment. You're so welcome! It's lovely to have you back in the blogging world!

I'm so glad you like this look, and the cat ears. I bet Valentina looked lovely!

It's great that you're writing again and reconnecting with all your online friends. You're right about the U.S election, 'insane' is definitely the word that comes to mind. It's definitely alarming.

I'm sorry to hear of your seasonal depression. You're not alone, as Seasonal Affective Disorder afflicts many. Personally I can't stand the cold and shorter days, and feel tempted to hibernate! xx

  14. Love the cat ears - the perfect finishing touch to your outfit! :) I don't dress up for Halloween - we don't really celebrate it here in Australia. I do put the boys in superhero onesies, but they wear them year-round too, just seems more fitting on Halloween haha!

    Hope you've had a wonderful weekend :)

    1. Hi Mica and thanks so much for your lovely comment! I'm so glad you love the cat ears. That's great that your kids dressed up in superhero onesies on Halloween! I agree, it's much nicer to have outfits like that which can be worn all year round, rather than limited to one day only!

I had a fab weekend, thank you, and I hope you did too! xx
